Known to be the dance crew captain and one of the best players in League of Legends during his days in high school, Cee Jay Geronca took it to another level as he achieved his big dreams. Becoming part of an e-sports team who plays League of Legends was his long-time dream since he was eight years old as he can express himself by playing the game he loves.
He has been in the field of internet games for 12 years, and now that he has achieved his dreams, he is beyond grateful for who he has become. This dream started when he was exposed to competitive scenes. He noticed that his skills could challenge those excellent players and decided to level up his game to be a top player someday.
His way of achieving his dream to be part of an e-sports team did not go smooth as he experienced a lot of defeat that pulled down his confidence to play. Seeing other players greater than him makes him question his own path. Good thing he has a “never-give-up” attitude that took him to where he is right now.
“Kailangan ko lang mag tiwala sa sarili ko, kung gusto ko maabot ‘tong pangarap ko. Kahit ilang beses pa matalo.”
Two years ago, Cee Jay received a text message that he is qualified for a dance team named Stump. It brought a lot of happiness not just to him but also to his family and friends because they know how much he wanted to compete in big and famous dance competitions.
He saw this as a great opportunity as a big help because he knows he will be a lot better now that he is in a great team.
Cee Jay is also a scholar of Far Eastern University - Manila which brings a lot of pressure to him as he needs to manage his time well in studying, gaming, and dancing to retain his scholarship. There are times that these things give him extreme tiredness; however, he still manages to see the silver lining because he is improving at the same time.
Cee Jay is a fortunate man because he is surrounded by great people as no one doubted him in reaching his dreams. All of them believe in his capabilities and encourage him to continue doing things that make him happy.
"Minsan ako lang nagda-doubt sa sarili ko, pero pag dumating sa punto na iyon, iniisip ko lang na malayo na rin yung narating ko and if aayawan ko, masasayang yung mga pinaghirapan ko," he remarked.
His coaches, team mates in both gaming and dancing brought the best out of him. They are his main inspirations not to be greater than them but to be like them – passionate and dedicated in their works.
"If gusto nila makamit yung mga dreams nila, dapat di sila tumitigil sa passion nila. Dahil bago ako mapunta sa mga dream teams ko, ilang years bago ko nakuha yung mga gusto ko. Dapat lagi rin ineexpose yung sarili sa environment kung saan machachallenge ka talaga and mag-grow ka as an individual," Cee Jay's advice to all the dreamers out there.
