“I try my best to step forward and do the next right thing for the future that I aim to have”.
After many years of hard work and endeavor, Bianca was able to achieve one of her dreams which is to get into her dream universities.
In 2020, Bianca Aubrey Miguel, a senior high student at Santa Isabel College of Manila, was able to pass all her College Entrance Tests (CETs) from different prestigious universities which are Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (DLSU), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), and Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU). She was able to acquire 100% of scholarship in all universities and some of it includes financial assistance/allowance.
Aside from being a straight A student, she is also a student leader. Bianca juggled reviewing for her CETs while fulfilling her duties and responsibilities in school during her Senior High School days. Not to mention that she is also a debater who represents her school for inter-school competitions.
“Success is no accident, it is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all love of what you are doing or learning to do”
Bianca is a freshman student at Ateneo De Manila University and currently taking up
Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy and International Relations. She is enjoying a full scholarship from the university while receiving financial assistance from the university every month. While studying, Bianca is also working as an online english tutor/instructor to foreign students to support her own needs.
At a young age, Bianca has already been a consistent honor student and representative for different school competitions. Hence, up until this day she continues to thrive to reach her dreams.
“I always knew I'm not the brightest because duh I'm not gonna ignore that fact na ang daming mas matalino at mas magaling sa akin. Pero, kapatid, dinaan ko sa sipag.” She stated in her Facebook post.
Bianca said that she loves watching movies and series, binge watching Korean dramas, Japanese dramas, and various types of films is her guilty pleasure. Watching films also relieves her stress after a long tiring day from all the school work and responsibilities throughout the day.
She also revealed that her achievements are purely results of her preparedness. She said that first, she weighs the gravity of the exam/academic event. If the event is something serious, She would devote time to study and prepare sample speeches in her head. “I would rather be over prepared than not being prepared at all.” She expressed how she would go over all the possible scenarios in that particular event and prepare a countermeasure if things go south.
Just like any other student, Bianca also procrastinates when it comes to school works especially in reviewing for exams. She would always prefer to study the night before the test because for her, this is an effective strategy to remember the lessons quickly.
Bianca was not pressured as a kid. Her parents and siblings were very supportive and proud in everything she did. She also stated how she sets her own standards and often acts competitively. “Ever since, I’ve always been striving for perfection, being the best, and competing against other people instead with myself.” But as years passed by, she learned how pressure and unrealistically high standards are never worth it. True to her, grades are just numbers and the “perfectionist mindset” must be unlearned.
“I’d rather pressure myself for emotional or spiritual growth rather than a materialistic goal
(medals, awards, DL).”
For her future plans, Bianca wants to continue her studies in different languages. She is currently studying Japanese for her course, and she plans to study more extensively in Korean, Spanish, and French in the future. She is also eyeing herself as a lawyer in the future but she is still not sure if she would still pursue that dream because that it will surely not be a smooth path.
Each day is a challenge for Bianca especially now that the set-up of the education is through online classes, but just like the other students, she is working and striving for the betterment of her future tomake every day a step closer to success.
