The announcement was made by the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a press briefing on Friday.
According to the PSI President Lailani Velasco, to be able to come up with the best team that would compete for the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, the national selections would be a big help to select the best athletes.
Velasco also said in a Facebook post that PSI’s goal is to get their athletes back into their competitive shape after closing the swimming community for more than a year due to the pandemic. This will also serve as a preparation for the upcoming 31st SEA Games event.
Velasco added that the PSI worked together with different sports authority members and presidents to get the approval of the IATF.
