The intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the United Nations has made a goal to stop climate change before the year 2030 by sustaining the global temperature average of 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The organization believes that if we fail to stop climate change before the year 2030, it will cause irreversible damage to our planet.

A GMA Facebook video post shows how climate change has a massive effect on the world temperature since 1880-2021.

“We can stop climate change by lessening or eliminating the carbon emission produced by the big countries such as China, United States, India, and Russia” - said on the GMA Network Facebook video post.

According to Dr. Mahar Lagmay the Executive Director of UP resilience institute and NOAH center, On the GMA Facebook video post said the Philippines will be affected too by climate change.

“When the ice in the falls melt, it will increase the sea level, they would warm the ocean as well, When [you] warm the ocean, nag-iiba na yung climate natin, pag nag iba Yung climate, it will affect the biodiversity and it will affect us too.” - Dr. Lagmay on GMA Facebook video post.

According to Global Climate Risk Index 2021, The Philippines is in the top 4 which is affected most by extreme weather events from 2000-2020.

Experts believe here in the Philippines, that having an alternative energy source such as solar power, wind, and Hydropower energies is one of the solutions to stop climate change.
