This brings the country’s total to 23 million COVID-19 cases, 19 million recovered, and 250,00 deaths since the pandemic began based on the latest update from Our World in Data, JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data and published globally by CNN.

India is now second on the list at being the worst affected country after the United States with 32.7 million cases as of May.

The Indian Ministry of Health has stated that India launched its vaccination last January 16, 2021.

The latest numbers of vaccine doses in India are 172,633,761— while there are 37,159,467 numbers of people who have received their second dose which is 2.85% of India’s 1.3 billion population.

India is now requesting a temporary shutdown to handle this devastating COVID-19 surge and to resolve the world breaking increase of 400,000 cases in a single day.
