“The Chinese have blinked,” retired U.S. Navy officer Jerry Hendrix told Forbes.
Four of the Philippines' most advanced warships have been sent to the West Philippine Sea to counter China's continuously developing base at Julian Felipe Reef. The BRP Jose Rizal and the BRP Antonio Luna, two brand-new missile-guided frigates, were some of the units deployed. Warplanes were also sent to monitor the situation.
On the other hand, the U.S sent their aircraft carrier to the area named the USS Theodore Roosevelt. However this aircraft never travels alone, along with it are large escorts of submarines, destroyers and cruisers protecting it from potential attackers.
The U.S also deployed the USS Makin island, an assault ship that can carry 20 attack aircraft or stealth craft fighters. Like the USS Theodore Roosevelt, it is also escorted by submarines, cruisers and destroyers.
